GLOW & RE-SURFACE CHEMICAL PEELS
What should I expect?
Professional Peels will feel different for each client. Each peel procedure takes around 30 minutes depending on the type of peel and number of layers applied. During the procedure, a mild tingling, itching or heating sensation may be temporarily experienced. A fan will be provided to help cool any hot or “spicy” feeling during the treatment. We can stop at any time should you feel too much discomfort. The day after the procedure, skin may feel tight.
days 2-10, flaking and peeling may occur, although not required to achieve optimal results
all peel procedures cause sensitivity to heat and sun for several days
follow post-peel care regimens for optimal results
Who should not have a Chemical Peel?
Chemical Peels are not recommended if you are pregnant or breast feeding, if you have had a recent light or laser treatment, chemical peel, facial waxing, recent facial steroid injection, recent microdermabrasion, recent surgical procedure or skin infection, recent sun burn or recent changes in moles or growths in the treatment area. If you have an active or unstable medical condition such as epilepsy, cancer, autoimmune disease or diabetes then treatment should be deferred. If you have a history of cold sores, an anti-viral medication may be prescribed by the physician at your consult. You may notice increased bruising if you are on aspirin or other blood thinners. Recent Retin-A or retinoid use may make your skin more sensitive and red.
Is there any down time from this treatment?
Down time will vary on the type of peel, but most will cause a few hours of redness. The deeper the peel, the more actual peeling and flaking of skin you will experience. Superficial peels will appear healed after 2-3 days. Medium depth peels will require 7-10 days of healing.
